SERP team attends UN Summit on Sustainable Development

The Socioeconomic Rights Project and its partners participated in the UN Summit on Sustainable Development that took place in New York from 22-25 September in New York. This Summit was a gathering of Heads of State to deliberate on and assess the commitments made under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the Summit, SERP participated in some side events organised by civil society groups.

One of such was the side event on ‘A Decade of Action for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies’. This event drew participation from developing and developed countries, including Sierra Leone, Liberia, Indonesia, Korea and members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Participants at this meeting renewed commitments to ensure equality in access to justice for all. Participation in the Summit not only served as a learning experience for SERP and its partners but also provided the platform to network with other organisations across the world working on issues relating to access to justice.
