Kelly has a master’s degree in Law and is a PhD researcher at the Institute of Public Law of the University of Berne in Switzerland. Kelly currently works for the independent consultancy Ximpulse, based in Switzerland. Ximpulse supports stakeholders in political reform processes and has broad expertise ranging from constitution-making, power sharing and good governance to gender equality and human rights.
On May 6th, 2024, Kelly presented a seminar as part of her secondment at an in-house event. The seminar focused on the participative dimension of substantive equality and its role in addressing challenges related to the right to housing and gender-based poverty in urban areas.
Kelly had this to say about her research stay:
-I am looking forward to my research stay at the Dullah Omar Institute and learning more about and from the South African context, especially in relation to the realisation of economic, social and cultural rights (such as the right to adequate housing) and participatory approaches at local government level. I greatly appreciate the support and valuable exchange I have had so far from Prof. Tinashe Chigwata, Dr. Johandri Wright and Thabile Chonco-Spambo.
Thank you for the warm welcome!-
