Invitation: Seventh Commonwealth Local Government Research Colloquium (Kigali, 13-14 November 2023)

The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) will host the Seventh Commonwealth Local Government Research Colloquium on 13-14 November 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. The Colloquium is organised by CLGF’s Research Advisory Group, which is a network of research and training institutions as well as academics and doctoral researchers in the field from across the Commonwealth.

The Colloquium, which will be hosted in partnership with the University of Rwanda, provides a unique opportunity for CLGF members, partners, and stakeholders to exchange ideas and chart a way forward in priority policy areas affecting local government.

The Colloquium will be held in the lead up to CLGF’s high-level political conference which is a key event in the international local government calendar and brings together local government and other relevant ministers, and elected local government leaders, including city mayors, from across the Commonwealth. The theme of the 2023 Conference is ‘Building local resilience across the Commonwealth’.

The CLGF is inviting recent papers on local government/governance for presentation and discussion at the Colloquium. Given the theme of 2023 Conference, contributions pertaining to a wide cross-section of policy areas relevant to building resilience at the local level, such as climate, migration, public health, infrastructure, and sustainable finance; are particularly welcome. All papers should be submitted  to Mr. Idil Mohamed (Idil.Mohamed@clgf.org.uk ; CC clgc2023@clgf.org.uk) by Wednesday 01 November 2023.  If you wish to participate at the Colloquium please complete the registration form below.
