Dr Chigwata awarded a fellowship in Switzerland
Dr Chigwata‘s fellowship is a three month one, beginning June 2015 and he is undertaking research on multilevel governance in Zimbabwe. He says his time with the Institute is going to enhance his existing knowledge and hone his skills, enable and empower him, upon his return, to bring his new-found understanding to local debate on multilevel governance in Africa.
The institute manages an extensive academic exchange programme in which visiting academics and scholars undertake research on matters of their interests which are relevant to IFF activities. IFF is recognised internationally as a centre of expertise in the field of governance. For nearly 30 years the Institute has been producing academic analyses of the responsibilities which lie with a government and of the conflicts of interest it faces in performing its tasks. These include fulfilling the duties of a government in line with needs but economically, acting in accordance with democratic legitimacy, taking the different sections of society into account and protecting the rights of individuals and minorities.
