DEADLINE EXTENSION: LLM/MPHIL in Multilevel Government – 2017 Bursaries
The Dullah Omar Institute of Constitutional Law, Governance and Human Rights and the South African Research Chair (SARChI) have developed a highly valued master’s programme, offered since 2009, combining both theoretical and practical methods of instruction.
Programme Structure
The programme comprises taught modules, an internship, and a research component. The courses are:
Multilevel Governance
Local Government
Rule of Law and Good Governance
Internship of 400 hours at an institution of multilevel government
The programme is offered on full time basis over ten months at the UWC campus.
Students are taught and supervised by distinguished scholars and experts in the field, including Professor Nico Steytler (SARCHi Chair in Multilevel Government, Law and Policy) and Professor Jaap de Visser (director of Community Law Centre).
The programme also includes seminars by visiting international scholars.
Minimum requirements for admission are LL.B or honours degree (South African Qualification Authority equivalent. Admission is highly competitive and merit based.
