CLC tightens relations with Moi University

Prof Nico Steytler and Prof Jaap de Visser visited the School of Law of Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya.They were received by Dr Mutakha Kangu, Dean of the School of Law and former doctoral researcher with the SARChI Chair at the Community Law Centre.

Profs Steytler and De Visser met with a delegation of senior academic staff and were given a tour of the faculty, including the library. Last year, the Community Law Centre donated a selection of legal materials to Moi University and the Law Librarian expressed her gratitude for the materials. They were put to use andare benefiting the Law Library and the 2000 law students in Eldoret. 

The Community Law Centre is connected to Moi University ina number of ways. There is a Memorandum of Understanding in place between Moi University’s School of Law and UWC’s Law Faculty. Former CLC doctoral researchers, Dr Conrad Bosire and Dr Nkatha Murungi are alumni of Moi University’s Law School. Former UWC Dean and associate of CLC, Prof JuliaSloth-Nielsen visited and taught at Moi University.

With Dr Mutakha Kangu at the helm, the School of Law is poised to deepen itspostgraduate teaching programme and opportunities for further collaboration were discussed.
