Judge Vincent Saldanha

Judge Vincent Saldanha started practising as an attorney in 1985. He later became the regional and national director of the Legal Resources Centre, served as President of NADEL, Chairperson of the Southern Africa Development Community Lawyers Association (SADC-LA), and Co-chairperson of the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA). He has served on the Board of the Dullah Omar Institute (previously Community Law Centre), since 1994, and is also presently serving on other boards such as the Albie Sachs Trust for Constitutionalism and the Rule of Law (ASCAROL) and the Centre For Justice and Crime Prevention (CJCP). He was appointed as a Judge of the Cape High Court in 2008, and still serves in this position.

Prof Benyam Dawit Mezmur

Benyam Dawit Mezmur specialises in children’s rights law. He is a Professor of Law, and Coordinator of the Children’s Rights Project at the Dullah Omar Institute for Constitutional Law, Governance, and Human Rights, Faculty of Law, at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Since early 2018 he also serves as Deputy Dean for Research and Post-Graduate Studies of the Faculty.

Ms Thabile Chonco

Thabile Chonco is an nGAP lecturer, in the Department of Public Law and Jurisprudence and the Dullah Omar Institute at UWC. She is a doctoral researcher under the SARChl in Multilevel Government, Law and Policy. She holds an LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (2015), as well as an LLM from the University of the Western Cape (2016). Prior to joining the Institute, she clerked at the Constitutional Court of South Africa (2018) and worked at the National Treasury as part of their graduate programme (2016-2017).

Ms Lisa Draga

Lisa Draga has been an associate lecturer in the Department of Public Law and Jurisprudence at UWC since February 2018. She teaches Constitutional Law and South African Bill of Rights. She is a graduate of UWC, having obtained her LLB Summa Cum Laude in 2006. She holds an LLM in alternative dispute resolution from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Prior her appointment at UWC, she worked at the Equal Education Law Centre and the Legal Resources Centre, and she clerked at the Constitutional Court.
