Abstract
Paper will attempt at presenting the unique system of the BLS to the other nations who are not aware or well-versed about it and determine whether it can serve as a model for other multi-ethnic/religious African states. Determine whether the BLS being in the constitution gives more advantages compared to other electoral 'corrective measures' adopted by other nations such as Singapore and Ecuador. It provides for a critical analysis of several legislative acts of parliaments, which coupled with the Constitution, complete the BLS.

About Amar Roopanand Mahadew
Amar Roopanand Mahadew graduated from the University of Mauritius with an LLB (hons) degree after which he did his Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (LLM) from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. He worked as legal researcher at the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Roopanand Mahadew was also an intern at the Department of Social Affairs of the African Union Commission.He is currently enrolled as part time doctoral candidate at the University of the Western Cape where he is researching on Land grabbing in Africa and he is a Human Rights law lecturer at the Department of Law at University of Mauritius.
