Gladys Mirugi-Mukundi

Acting Project Head

Gladys joined the Community Law Centre now Dullah Omar Institute in 2011. As a Researcher, she is responsible for the design and implementation of projects around Economic, Social and Cultural rights in Africa. Her research interests include human rights, social justice and social inclusion, women and access to housing, children rights, rule of law and corruption.

Before joining DOI, Gladys worked as a Research Intern in the Programme on Money Laundering and Organized Crime at the  Institute for Security Studies (ISS) Cape Town Office (2010); as a External Project Management Consultant in the Programme Towards the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour (TECL) at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) SADC Regional Office, Pretoria (2007 – 2008); and  as a Law Clerk for Chief Justice Pius Langa (Late) at the Constitutional Court of South Africa, Johannesburg (2005).   

Gladys holds a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) on Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, Uganda. She has published various  books and book chapters, peer reviewed journal articles, research reports as well as submissions to state and institutions.
