Institute of Federalism Fribourg
The Institute of Federalism at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, is one of the leading research institutes of federalism in Europe, and also provides services and expertise in the areas of constitutionalism, comparative research on federalism, decentralisation and democratisation, in cooperation with the Swiss agency for Development and Cooperation and other national and international actors.
The Institute of Federalism is especially renowned for hosting its three-week Summer University on Federalism, Decentralisation and Conflict Resolution which is currently in its 28th edition and has over 1000 alumni spread across the globe.
Institute for Comparative Federalism, EURAC Research
The Institute for Comparative Federalism is part of EURAC Research and carries out comparative studies and applied research on federal, regional and local governmental trends both within Europe and worldwide.
Since 2010, the Institute has hosted its renowned two-week cross-border Winter School on Federalism and Governance with the University of Innsbruck which takes place under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and attracts international participation.
The Winter School analyses the phenomena of federalism, regionalism and multilevel governance from legal and political science perspectives.
