The United Nations Mission in Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) was established by Security Council Resolutions in consultation with the authorities of Chad and the Central African Republic. Security Council Resolution 1861 authorizes the deployment of a military component of MINURCAT to follow EUFOR in both Chad and the Central African Republic at the end of EUFOR’s mandate. Minurcat withdrew from Chad in late 2010 at the request of the government of Chad.
Bureau Intégré de l'Organisation des Nations Unies en Centrafrique (BINUCA) is a UN field office of the Department of Political Affairs headed by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Central African Republic, Ms. Margaret Vogt of Nigeria. BINUCA operates under a mandate from the UN Security Council to help consolidate peace and national reconciliation, strengthen democratic institutions and mobilize international political support and resources for national reconstruction and economic recovery. The Office is also tasked with promoting public awareness of human rights issues in the country and monitoring developments in this field.
The Special Court for Sierra Leone was set up jointly by the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations. It is mandated to try those who bear the greatest responsibility for serious violations of international humanitarian law and Sierra Leonean law committed in the territory of Sierra Leone since 30 November 1996. Currently, the three cases heard in Freetown have been completed, including appeals. The trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor is nearing completion in The Hague.

This is the website of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Angola. The court reviews the constitutionality of laws, decrees, resolutions, international treaties and any other norms, as prescribed by Article 155 of the Angolan Constitution. The court is the highest court that decides constitutional matters. It has jurisdiction over certain electoral, referendum and separation of powers matters.

Under an autocratic president, Malawi’s politics is getting a lot nastier... "A law has been passed giving the police the right to search premises without a warrant. Another new law lets the president ban any publication deemed critical of the government. In July police shot dead 20 protesters who had demanded political and economic reforms; the police claimed they were looters. Government critics are subject to what Joyce Banda, Malawi’s vice-president (recently expelled by Mr Mutharika from the ruling party), has called a “reign of terror”. Critics of the president have listed arson attacks, death threats and physical assaults. Mr Chasowa’s alleged suicide is just the latest and most ominous incident."
