CSPRI hosts workshop for the drafting of a shadow report on South Africa for the UN Human Rights Committee
The UN Human Rights Committee is the body mandated to oversee the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in states party to the Covenant.
This includes making influntial recommendations (or "concluding observations"), usually following the submissions of reports by States. Civil society organisations may submit alternate reports to the Committee in order to complement the information provided by the State. The purpose of the workshop was to co-ordinate the input from a number of partner organisations toward providing the Human Rights Committee with a complete picture of the situation in South Africa.
